White Girl Book Cover White Girl: A Story Of School Desegregation

White Girl is a powerful and thought-provoking memoir that chronicles the experiences of a young white girl who was bused to a predominantly black school in the Jim Crow South. This book is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the complexities of race and class in America.

The author, Carolyn Bryant, was born in 1954, the same year that the Supreme Court ruled that school segregation was unconstitutional. In 1970, when Bryant was 15 years old, she was bused to a predominantly black school in her hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas. This was a time of great turmoil and violence in the South, as white supremacists resisted the desegregation of schools.
