George Mallory was a British mountaineer who attempted to climb Mount Everest in 1924. Mallory and his climbing partner, Andrew Irvine, disappeared on the mountain and their bodies have never been found. In 1999, an American expedition team led by Conrad Anker discovered Mallory's body on the north face of Everest.
