Goodall's work also helped to dispel the myth that humans are the only animals capable of empathy and compassion.

In addition to her scientific work, Goodall is also a tireless advocate for animal rights and environmental protection. She has worked with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to promote sustainable development and protect endangered species. Goodall is also the founder of the Jane Goodall Institute, a non-profit organization that supports chimpanzee research and conservation.
