With Wingate's Chindits in Burma is a firsthand account of the legendary guerrilla force that fought behind enemy lines in Burma during World War II. This gripping memoir provides a unique perspective on the Chindits' daring raids and their role in the eventual Allied victory in Burma.

The author, David Smiley, was a young officer in the British Army who joined the Chindits in 1942. He served with the Chindits for three years, taking part in some of their most famous operations, including the Arakan Expedition and the Irrawaddy Crossing. Smiley's memoir is a vivid and personal account of the Chindits' experiences, from their grueling training to their deadly encounters with the Japanese enemy.

Smiley's writing is clear and concise, and he has a keen eye for detail. He brings the Chindits' world to life, from the dense jungles of Burma to the remote villages where they found shelter and support. Smiley also provides a valuable historical perspective on the Chindits' role in the war. He shows how the Chindits' raids helped to disrupt the Japanese supply lines and morale, and how they played a key role in the eventual Allied victory in Burma.

With Wingate's Chindits in Burma is a fascinating and informative account of one of the most extraordinary military units of World War II. Smiley's memoir is a must-read for anyone interested in military history, guerrilla warfare, or the Second World War.
